Ernst Altien Auction sale. Recovering from the devasting blow of the fire of 83, Ernst Altien didnīt paint very much for some years, and the quality of his works was very changing. He earned some money from playing the piano in some more obscure bars in small towns, but in the end he got tired of the late hours, the smoke and the drinking - and the repeated La Paloma. So he started to paint a bit again just to get some money for living. To his great surprise, he was able to make money on selling on auctions. His paintings were sold on several auctions in Copenhagen, and the ones shown below were among others all sold on www.lauritz.com
